Coral Gables, FL, April 14, 2015Created by the American Public Gardens Association, National Public Gardens Day is a countrywide celebration that invites communities to explore the beauty of their local green spaces while raising awareness of the important role public gardens play in promoting conservation, education, and environmental preservation. Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden will mark this special day on Friday, May 8 from 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. with reduced admission: $20 for adults, $13 for seniors 65 and up, and $7 for kids 6-17.


Fairchild invites everyone to enjoy the 83 acres of lush landscaping, including the Wings of the Tropics butterfly exhibit, Rainforest, Succulent Garden, Palmetum, Edible Garden, and much more. Lunch is available in the Glasshouse Café and Lakeside Café.


Chihuly at Fairchild

As part of Art at Fairchild, Dale Chihuly’s most comprehensive garden art exhibition is on view until May 31, 2015. See jewel-toned works nestled into the broadleaf plants of the Rainforest, a multicolored chandelier hanging from a tall live oak, colorful floats drifting in the water lily pools, and more.


Tram Tours

Free, narrated tram tours last approximately 30 minutes and are offered every half hour beginning at 10:00 a.m. The tours give an excellent overview of the garden’s history, mission, and plant collections.


Wings of the Tropics

From 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 pm, walk through the beautifully landscaped Wings of the Tropics exhibit in the Clinton Family Conservatory and marvel at the numerous exotic butterflies fluttering throughout. Visitors can look into the Butterfly Metamorphosis Lab to see these tropical butterflies emerge from their chrysalises.
