FAIRCHILD A NOMINEE IN USA TODAY’S “BEST PUBLIC GARDEN” CONTEST
Coral Gables, FL, March 6, 2014 – To celebrate the approaching arrival of spring, USA Today launched their 10 Best Readers’ Choice “Best Public Garden” competition. Twenty gardens in the U.S. were selected as nominees, and Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden is one of them. Fairchild is asking the community to cast their vote. A person can vote once a day by visiting www.10best.com/awards/travel/best-public-garden during the run of the contest, now through March 31. Voting is free, and there is no need to register. Winners will be announced on April 2.
Other nominees include renowned attractions like the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, Huntington Botanical Gardens, and Longwood Gardens. Fairchild is one of only two tropical gardens selected and is the sole garden representing Florida. The sunshine and warm weather allow visitors to experience the best of Miami’s flora and fauna year-round, something not all gardens are lucky enough to have.
Since its opening in 1938, Fairchild has invited the community to explore its 83-acre haven of tropical plants in Coral Gables with exhibits like the Rainforest, Palmetum, Butterfly Garden, and water lily pools. Dedicated to environmental education and furthering research on the tropics, Fairchild opened the Science Village in December 2012 to foster scientific exploration and discovery for all ages. The Wings of the Tropics exhibit is one of the newest attractions and features thousands of exotic butterflies from Central America, South America, and Asia.
Please vote for Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden and show the beauty of Florida’s landscapes and gardens to the rest of the country.
