It was a gadget-y Christmas. My iPhone now has several new lenses that snap over the camera, and two of these are great fun: the fisheye and the macro.
Paphiopedilum spicerianum now is in flower, and I used the macro to take a closer look. There, the staminoid or shield like structure above the pouch, morphed into a little creature that might have come from the sea floor. Except is has eyebrows, sort of.
Using yet another gadget, I transferred the photo from the iPhone to the computer and then popped it into Photoshop. More orchids and other plants are going to get this kind of once over. Stay tuned.
