About the Artist
Emerging artist Matthew Hanzman is a self-taught, young painter born and raised in Miami, Florida. Using painting as an imaginatory outlet for his storytelling, his works combine abstraction and figuration, childlike characters and darker undertones that draw inspiration from a wide array of sources including rock n’ roll and street culture, expressionism and art outside the establishment. Still finding his artistic voice and approaching the canvas from a youthful, take-no-prisoners’-perspective, Matthew’s paintings are a vessel for experimentation and continuous change. This exhibition consists of three distinct styles developed over the past year and is accompanied by the music that has played a major influence along the way. Matthew Hanzman’s exhibition is part of the Emerging Artists Series of the Art and Sculpture Program at Fairchild..
