Instructor: Dr. Noris Ledesma
The three hour class will be spent in a practical session of the whip and tongue grafting technique; a challenge to master but has one of the highest rate of success. The art of grafting is a fascinating subject to learn. Dr. Ledesma, Fairchild curator of tropical fruit, will show participants the process of growing rootstock, to nursery beds and finally in established orchards. You’ll then practice and graft an avocado. Please bring your own grafting knife and wear comfortable clothing. This class takes place at the Fairchild Farm, located in Homestead. Directions will be sent to registered students. Please note that both sections offer the same information; these classes are not inter-changeable.
