Coral Gables, FL, March 5, 2006- The Fairchild Palms in conjunction with Loyola University New Orleans present the 6th annual Crawfish Boil on Saturday, March 24, 2007 from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden. Guests will enjoy fresh crawfish as well an array of down-home southern dishes such as jambalaya, fried catfish with cajun slaw, king cake,and a full bar sponsored by Peroni Italy and Bacardi U.S.A. Inc. The night includes the music of Will Thomas and the Redneck Orchestra, fortune tellers, caricature portraits and a whole lot of fun! The funds raised by the Fairchild Palms at this event will benefit Fairchild‘s educational program, "The Fairchild Challenge."

About The Fairchild Palms
Founded in 2000, the Fairchild Palms, Fairchild‘s young professionals‘ volunteer group is comprised of South Florida‘s future leaders. The mission of the Fairchild Palms is to increase awareness of the depth and scope of Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden through outreach, education and entertainment and to raise funds to support Fairchild‘s scientific initiatives, education and conservation programs. Working in tandem with Fairchild‘s other philanthropic groups, the Fairchild Palms helps to raise funds to support The Fairchild Challenge, one of Fairchild‘s educational programs. The group also works to increase awareness of this South Florida treasure, by bridging the educational gap among emerging professionals in the community.
Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden is dedicated to exploring, explaining and conserving the world of tropical plants. It is one of the premier conservation and education-based gardens in the world and a recognized international leader in both Florida and international conservation. Currently Fairchild has field programs in over 20 countries including support to protected areas in Madagascar and botanic garden development and renovation projects in South and Central America, the Caribbean and Middle East. Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden houses the National Palm Collection as recognized by the American Public Gardens Association (APGA), has the world‘s greatest living collection of palms and cycads; an education program reaching more than 26,000 school children per year; hosts popular events like the International Mango and Orchid Festivals, the Ramble, concerts, affiliated plant society shows and sales and more; and, is a not-for-profit organization relying on the support of its 36,000 members and benefactors.
