“ART LOFT” SEGMENT ON DALE CHIHULY EXHIBITION AT FAIRCHILD
WINS 2015 SUNCOAST EMMY AWARD
Coral Gables, FL, December 8, 2015 – Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden extends its congratulations to the WPBT-TV series “Art Loft” for being named one of the 2015 Program Winners at the 39th Annual Suncoast Emmy Awards for their segment on Fairchild’s Dale Chihuly art exhibition on view during the 2014-15 Art at Fairchild season.
The Suncoast Emmy Awards, held on December 5 in Ft. Lauderdale, were presented by the non-profit Suncoast Chapter of The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences to recognize excellence in the television industry.
The winning segment features an interview with Fairchild’s Chief Operating Officer, Nannette Zapata, along with sweeping views of American artist Dale Chihuly’s most comprehensive garden exhibition to date. Beautiful art sculpted from glass and other media were placed throughout 83 acres of Fairchild, from sinewy plant-like forms in the lush Rainforest to colorful orbs floating beside water lilies to canvas work in the new Adam R. Rose and Peter R. McQuillan Arts Center.
“We try to create a hub for culture and science education and conservation right here within this wonderful, magical garden,” Zapata said in the interview. “To create cultural richness that allows people to connect with art and nature.”
Art at Fairchild began in 2005 to showcase the indelible link between art and nature and to support the cultural enrichment of South Florida. Since its inception, Fairchild has exhibited works from Dale Chihuly, Roy Lichtenstein, Claude and François-Xavier Lalanne, Yayoi Kusama, Mark di Suvero, Fernando Botero, and Hugo França.
