Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden will host its Annual Fairchild Artists in Bloom Exhibition and Sale. The Garden House will transform into a gallery featuring more than 150 original works from more than 50 artists and Fairchild art instructors. The exhibition will showcase botanically themed works in watercolor, oil and acrylic paintings, pastels, and illustrations.

Join us as we celebrate the season with local foods and the gorgeous gardens they grow in. Learn tips to keep your garden thriving during the summer months, pick up a trick from local chefs at a cooking demonstration, shop artisan vendors or pick up delicious foods from local vendors. 

One of the best ways to add color and interest to your garden is by using crotons.  They are easy to grow and there are varieties for almost every situation.  This class will focus on successful growth practices, the many varieties, placement, soil, pest control and propagation.

Begin your day with pastries and light refreshments from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 pm. at the Adam R. Rose & Peter R. McQuillan Arts Center and learn about the Garden’s incredible programs and recovery efforts.

Would you like to learn the more advanced camera features of your DSLR? This class will cover the following advanced functionalities of your DSLR: when to use RAW format vs JPG; how to manage your White Balance Options; how to manage the Auto Focus options; using External Flashes and light modifiers effectively; how to use your camera’s TTL meter to control multiple dedicated external flashes and balance ambient and artificial lights to create professional results. Information on how to use your histogram to maximize your image quality and managing your lens aperture and focal length to accomplish different aesthetic effects will be covered.

The three hour class will be spent in a practical session of the whip and tongue grafting technique; a challenge to master but has one of the highest rate of success. The art of grafting is a fascinating subject to learn. Dr. Ledesma, Fairchild curator of tropical fruit, will show participants the process of growing rootstock, to nursery beds and finally in established orchards.

Fairchild's International Mango Conference features expert speakers focusing on the latest research and development in the Mango industry. Ticket price is per person. Lunch is included on Friday. Ticket includes entry to the 26th Annual International Mango Festival.
