Orchid seeds are unlike any other plant’s seeds. Called “dust seeds”, they are so tiny that they lack the nutrient content to start the germination process. In the wild, orchid seeds must prey on fungi to obtain this food, an exceedingly rare event. However, under laboratory conditions, we can provide the seeds with nutrients via plant culture media and achieve nearly 100% germination.
