Coral Gables, FL, June 10, 2016 – On June 1, 2016, Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden received the highest rating of four out of four stars from Charity Navigator, the U.S.’s largest evaluator of charities. The ratings assessed financial performance metrics, accountability and transparency performance metrics, income statements, and compensation. Fairchild received an overall score of 95.58 out of 100.00 with a 100% score for accountability and transparency.
Charity Navigator provides objective analytics about operations and financial statements of non-profit organizations aiming to help donors make informed giving decisions. Its website states the ratings “show givers how efficiently we believe a charity will use their support today, how well it has sustained its programs and services over time and their level of commitment to good governance, best practices and openness with information.” Through their most recent analyses of organizations, Fairchild became the highest rated botanical garden.
“We are so proud to be a Charity Navigator four-star rated organization. It reflects our operations and diligence in ensuring our donor’s and members’ support of Fairchild,” said Nannette Zapata, Fairchild’s chief operating officer.
Fairchild’s board of trustees, responsible for the financial and strategic development of the Garden, was equally proud. Says board president Bruce Greer, “Charity Navigator is the evaluator and arbiter of charitable organizations; that their June 1 report finds that Fairchild is a four-star organization provides an objective, unbiased and unqualified opinion as to the value of our organization for our donors and the fiduciary responsibility with which Fairchild is managed. And it affirms the Board’s management and our staff’s operations.”
Fairchild will continue to provide an exceptional research program on tropical plant conservation, environmental education outreach to schools and their students, and engaging programming to its visitors and the community.
