We have lots of birds in Fairchild!

We've had very cold temperatures from January 7 through January 12.  This meant that the temperature of our lakes has also cooled.  Certain exotic (bad) species of fish, such as tilapia, have been killed by the cold water.  Well, wading birds such as Ibis, Egrets, and a very special visitor, a Wood Stork, are feeding on the fish!  Come to our lowlands and see the birds taking advantage of a "buffet" of tilapia.

Hi Mary, Georgia suggested in her blog to contact you. I am an avid collector of palms (apprx 50 sp) and some are in baaad shape after the cold - clinostigma (12 ft)looks the worst, but the yellow latania and cabada (15 ft) and licuala spinosa (7 ft)are not much better. I fear I may lose them. They are all in the ground. The understory palms I was able to cover and so far only the laccospadix is burnt, the rest look fine. Any suggestions? I am in Wilton Manors near US1. Help - my tropical garden looks awful.
