The Jordan Tice Trio

The Jordan Tice Trio

It begins with guitarist, Jordan Tice, because he wrote the music and hatched the plan. A plan that required specific musical (and other) qualities:  thunderous lows, crystalline highs, percussive attacks, voluminous whomps, steady murmurs, driving rhythms, deft dynamics, and a constant supply of sarcasm. So, naturally, he called on his good friends Paul Kowert and Simon Chrisman, who with double bass and hammer dulcimer round out the Jordan Tice Trio. Like all bands, they wanted to sound like one thing, not three. And while they had a head start on this, having known each other, and played together in different configurations, for years, they were excited to get a chance to focus on their collaboration in a new way. Their debut record, The Secret History, released in December 2011, displays the fruits of their collaboration with 8 stunning tracks which draw on the groups shared background in traditional Appalachian and Celtic folk music, Tice's signature compositional style, and the spontaneous improvisational energy stemming from the group's musical and personal synergy.
