Fairchild's Fabulous Festivals

Festivals have had a central role at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden dating back to 1941 when Fairchild held its first Ramble. Annual events such as the International Mango Festival, the Chocolate Festival and the Orchid Festival help Fairchild deliver information, plants and goodwill to the community.  Fairchild is also proud to host numerous concerts, affiliated plant society sales and more.

Our festivals and shows have something for everyone from children's activities to informative lectures, from a taste of decadent chocolate to a world class mango brunch. There are hard to find plants, garden accessories and a look at cultures from around the world.  It's all here at Fairchild's fabulous festivals for you and your family to enjoy.

The Edible Garden Festival, Featuring the Scarecrow Contest

Saturday and Sunday, October 24-25, 2009, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Fairchild’s Edible Garden Festival and Scarecrow Contest will feature informative lectures, delicious food, cooking demonstrations, plant vendors and demonstrations on how to create a fruit and vegetable garden in your own home garden or as a container garden.

The deadline for entering the Scarecrow contest is October 9th.

 

69th Annual Ramble

Friday, Saturday and Sunday, November 20-22, 2009, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

 

The Ramble is South Florida's most loved and oldest garden party.  Come and experience a blend of old traditions and new introductions with Nell's Tea Garden, the largest plant sale in South Florida, antiques and collectibles, garden themed art, old and rare books, our famous Kid Way, live music and a ramble raffle of more than sixty items.

4th Annual International Chocolate Festival featuring Coffee and Tea

Friday, Saturday and Sunday, January 22-24, 2010, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  

 

Join us for the celebration of chocolate, coffee and tea. From chocolate treats to delicious cups of coffee and soothing cups of tea, don't miss, tree sales, cooking demonstrations and informative lectures.  

The Chocolate and Rainforest Experience: Volunteers will be giving lectures and tours of Fairchild's Rainforest. Come learn all about cacao and its habitat. 

Cooking Demonstrations: There are cooking demonstrations all weekend long in the Cooking Demonstration Pavilion. Learn how to create the most heavenly of treats.

8th Annual International Orchid Festival

Friday, Saturday and Sunday, March 12-14, 2010, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The International Orchid Festival features nearly 30 orchid growers from around the world who will exhibit the plant's magnificent diversity.  This event is sure to delight the orchid enthusiast and those newcomers just learning about the spectacular world of orchids. The Orchid Society of Coral Gables will grace the Garden House with an American Orchid Society (AOS) juried show displaying orchids for visitors to marvel at throughout the weekend. The Orchid Society of Coral Gables will also provide advice and tips on growing orchids at the Get Growing booth on the Garden House lawn. In addition, there will be educational lectures, walking tours and live music.

18th Annual International Mango Festival

Saturday and Sunday, July 10-11, 2010 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

 

The International Mango Festival is a world class event that includes mango tree sales, tastings, mango products, kid's programs and a world class display of over 400 cultivars of mangos harvested from the Tropical Fruit Program's living genetic collection. There will also be lectures on everything mango by experts from around the world. Don't miss the famous mango brunch with mango delights made by South Florida's foremost chefs. The festival culminates Sunday evening with the world's greatest mango auction.

7th Annual Butterfly Days Festival

Coming in July, 2010

Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden and the Miami Blue Chapter of the North American Butterfly Association present Butterfly Days, a weekend of events celebrating butterfly appreciation, conservation and education. Butterfly Days include a guided tour of the Keys Coastal Habitat and Pinelands, children's activities throughout the day, butterfly plant sales and lectures on South Florida butterfly identification, butterfly watching, butterfly gardening, and the 2008 butterfly count news.
