Lectures

The James A. Kushlan Keynote Speaker of the Bird Festival will be Ted Floyd.

He is also an instructor with the Institute for Field Ornithology, and a frequent speaker at bird festivals and other birding events.  Floyd is the author of several books and more than a hundred articles on birds and other aspects of natural history.  He lives in Boulder, Colorado, with his wife Kei, daughter Hannah, and son Andrew.

Saturday

James A. Kushlan Keynote Lecture: My Favorite Bird, Ted Floyd

Ted Floyd presents James A. Kushlan Keynote Lecture My Favorite Bird.  The title of the presentation sounds simple enough.  But Ted Floyd's keynote address will explore such matters as science, self-concept, and the meaning of life!  Get ready for a lively and quirky investigation of why certain birds are our favorites, and why our favorite birds say a lot about ourselves.

Sunday

James A. Kushlan Keynote Lecture: Warbler Identification, Ted Floyd

Ted Floyd will discuss Warbler Identification.  Warblers are the quintessential North American birds.  Each spring, we are dazzled by their bright colors, and we marvel at their lengthy migrations.  But warblers can pose identification challenges, especially in the fall.  In this interactive and entertaining presentation, Ted Floyd encourages us to begin anew with warbler migration.  We'll learn to approach bird identification in a whole new way.

Check back for updates on our lecturers for Saturday and Sunday.
