14th Annual International Orchid Festival

Immerse yourself within the world of orchids with over 10,000 orchid plants from local and international vendors. Learn about growing and caring for orchids at home, pick up handmade products from artisan vendors, enjoy delicious foods from local vendors or marvel at the rare orchid species in the American Orchid Society juried show, presented by the Orchid Society of Coral Gables.

Orchid Odyssey 

While strolling the Garden, be sure to experience the beautiful Orchid Odyssey in the Rainforest exhibit, a truly tropical display of rare orchids, in the widest variety of species and colors you'll find anywhere. The Simons Rainforest features a colorwheel of beautiful orchids from around the world. Over two acres of rainforest and orchids in a beautiful display of nature's magic.

Take the Orchid Odyssey Journey through these stops: 

Orchid Plaza, Simons Rainforest – enjoy interactive discussions on the natural history of orchids and growing tips. 
The Tropical Fruit Pavilion– take a journey through the beautiful and aromatic world of the vanilla orchid. 
Hsiao Labs, Science Village– learn about the Million Orchid Project and how Fairchild is cultivating rare native orchids to be  reintroduced into South Florida habitats
Orchid Society of Coral Gables Juried Show - Marvel at more than 30 tabletop orchid displays put together by the Orchid Society of Coral Gables

OrKids – Fun for the Whole Family! 

The whole family can learn about the diversity of plant-animal pollination through fun, interactive, hands-on activities and lectures. Learn how plants have evolved to attract, sometimes even trick, and ultimately reward, their pollinators. Do the “bee waggle” to let other bees in your hive know where the flowers are, then create a mask of your favorite pollinator!

The Million Orchid Project STEMLab Near Cycad Circle

Get a first glimpse at our state-of-the-art, fully functioning mobile lab connecting students with the science of The Million Orchid Project and take home a miniature propagation kit and become a Fairchild citizen scientist (while supplies last

The Grand Opening of The American Orchid Society Library Collection at Fairchild

Featuring a wall-to-wall collection of orchid books as well as rare books, some more than 150 years old. The AOS Library is on permanent exhibit at Fairchild as part of the partnership between Fairchild and the venerable orchid association.

The Million Orchid Project Labs 

Take a tour of the labs and learn firsthand the process of reintroducing rare, native orchids back into our communities. 

Wings of the Tropics 

Visit the Clinton Family Conservatory featuring the Wings of the Tropics exhibit to enjoy thousands of exotic butterflies along with hummingbirds, fish and some of the world's most beautiful rare plants. You will see the famous blue morpho butterflies, bamboo page butterflies, leopard lacewing butterflies and hummingbirds hovering overhead. There are butterfly releases twice daily, where kids of all ages will have a chance to experience these winged wonders up close.
