Scout Program

We invite you to participate in the Fairchild Field Studies programs for Scout Groups. Come to Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden to embark in an ecological learning experience. Choose between a variety of self-guided programs:


PROGRAMS OFFERED:


South Florida Local Ecosystems
Explore some of South Florida’s unique ecosystems. This program is full of activities that will guide the scouts through part of South Florida’s unique tapestry of life. To download the self-guided South Florida Ecosystems activity materials, click here

Biodiversity
Scouts learn about species richness as they explore various areas of the Garden. Scouts utilize the same methods that scientists use to measure biodiversity to take an up-close look at some of the living and non-living features of local ecosystems. Ecological Corridors
Face some of the challenges that birds and butterflies might encounter while looking for suitable habitat. Learn what you can do to make their journey easier! Downloadable activity coming soon!

Ethnobotany
Learn about the multitude of ways we depend on plants in our lives and explore how plants have shaped cultures accross continents and centuries. To download the self-guided Ethnobotany activity materials, click here.

Plant Kindgom
Scouts explore plant groups and classification while they learn about the diversity of the plants kingdom and reinforce      botanical concepts. To download the self-guided Plant Kingdom activity materials, click here.

Garden Explorations
Become a nature explorer as you travel around the Garden visiting different habitats. Learn about different plant and animal species in these habitats amd what makes them special! Independent Explorations
Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden is available as a resource for scout groups to implement their own activities.


Fees:

$5 per student, $10 per adult, (up to 20 students)
