PlantMobile Program
for Pre-K-12 Students

Let Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden come to you for a lively, hands-on experience that supplements your botanical and ecological classroom teaching. All programs are grade-appropriate and aligned with Next Generation Sunshine State Standards.

3 PROGRAMS ARE OFFERED:

Rainforest Relationships

Could you survive in the rainforest? Students discover the connections between plants and products we use everyday and examine authentic artifacts from an Ecuadorian rainforest.
Next Generation Sunshine State Standards, Rainforest Relationships

Kitchen Botany: From Flowers to Food

When you eat celery, broccoli, or asparagus, what part of the plant are you eating? Using hand lenses and dissecting tools, students will examine fruits and vegetables to discover the intricacies within. Students will identify the part of the flower that develops into fruit and the role that pollinators play in the process.
Next Generation Sunshine State Standards, Kitchen Botany

From Seeds to Trees

Why do some seeds fly and other seeds float? Students will learn about the basic parts of seeds, and what role the seed plays in the lifecycle of a plant. Using seeds with a variety of different shapes and sizes, students will explore how plants have adapted, and in some cases, formed relationships with animals, to spread their seeds most effectively and efficiently.
