Kitchen Botany: From Flowers to Food

When you eat celery, broccoli, or asparagus, what part of the plant are you eating? Using hand lenses and dissecting tools, students will examine fruits and vegetables to discover the intricacies within. Students will identify the part of the flower that develops into fruit and the role that pollinators play in the process.

From Seeds to Trees

Using seeds with a variety of different shapes and sizes, students will explore how plants have adapted, and in some cases, formed relationships with animals, to spread their seeds most effectively and efficiently.
