THE EVERGLADES: "RIVER OF GRASS" PERFORMANCES (MS & HS) *
Students perform their original two-minute song or spoken word piece about the Everglades.

"GREEN TREASURES" INTERGENERATIONAL INTERVIEWS (MS)
Students interview elders in Spanish and Haitian Creole about culturally important plants
and their different uses.

BOTANICAL FASHION SHOW (MS & HS) *
Students design two "Miami chic"/casual-elegant outfits with all visible parts made exclusively
of real plant materials.

ART WORKSHOP: LOCAL EDIBLE PLANTS (MS & HS)
Professional artists work outdoors with students who are participating in this year's art option, "Art: Local Edible Plants"; preceded by a scientific presentation.

ENVIRONMENTAL DEBATES (HS) *
Adolescent Energy vs. Explosive Environmental Issues
Students debate a broad range of environmental topics in Student Congress format.
Tuesday, March 23, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., various sites
ENVIRONMENTAL IMMERSION DAY (HS)
Students selected by their high schools work hands-on and in small groups with environmentalists,
biologists, botanists and researchers in laboratories and/or natural areas.
Saturday, April 10, 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., Fairchild
RESEARCH PROJECTS SHOWCASE (HS) *
Students demonstrate and explain their innovative research projects in four areas:
LEED-certified science classroom, green cuisine, solar inventions, and seed germination experiment.

ENVIRONMENTAL ACTION REPORTS (HS & MS) *
Students present a summary of their school's environmental initiatives in home, school and community.
