Students share ideas on environmental initiatives and discuss their schools' Fairchild Challenge clubs.

FRESHWATER ECOLOGY WORKSHOP (MS & HS) 
Students learn about South Florida freshwater restoration ecology.

FLORIDA ECOSYSTEMS: "PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE" PERFORMANCES (HS) * 
Students perform mini-musicals reflecting the changes in Florida's Ecosystems.

Students perform interpretive dances reflecting the changes in Florida's Ecosystems.  

Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at various sites; 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMMERSION DAY (HS)
Students work with environmentalists, biologists, botanists and researchers in laboratories, and/or natural areas.

Saturday, November 6, 2010 at Fairchild; 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
ART WORKSHOP: LEAFY LAYERS (ES)
Artists mentor students in capturing the fascinating world of leaf colors and shapes.

BOTANICAL FASHION SHOW "ACCENTS BY NATURE" (MS) *
Students design and model fashion accessories with all visible parts made exclusively of real plant materials.

Students conduct ehtnobotanical interviews with elders in Haitian-Creole and Spanish.

ART WORKSHOP: NATURAL ELEMENTS OF FLORIDA LANDSCAPES (MS & HS)
Headed by a scientific presentation about natural Florida landscapes, artists mentor students in rendering local botanical landscapes.

Saturday, January 29, 2011 at Fairchild; 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
ENVIRONMENTAL DEBATES (HS) *
Students debate topics related to the Gulf oil spill and energy policies.

Thursday, February 17, 2011 at Fairchild; 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
YOUTH CAN MIAMI CONFERENCE (ES) 
Students prepare and present interactive workshops on environmental topics.

Saturday, February 26, 2011 at Fairchild; 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
RESEARCH PROJECTS SHOWCASE (HS) *
Students demonstrate and explain their innovative research projects in four areas: green roof/green wall, green cuisine, solar inventions, and freshwater restoration ecology.
