iPHONEOGRAPHY: CREATING ART PHOTOGRAPHY IN THE PALM OF YOUR HAND – NEW APPS FOR 2013
Shirley Drevich

The iPhone has given rise to a new form of photography. More than just a camera in a phone, it has become both camera and portable darkroom, no matter where you may be. In this class you will explore various ways to capture and process images with your iPhone, and learn to create stunning results using a variety of apps (photography software applications for your iPhone that cost less than your favorite latte). There are over 10,000 photography apps available, and in this class you will be introduced to some of the more popular ones that will help you in the creation of your own photographic masterpieces. You will also learn how to save your images on your camera phone in the highest resolution possible, a skill that will enable you to print quality prints outside of this class. In addition to sharing images with family and friends, you will also be introduced to the international community of iPhoneographers with whom you can share your images. Time will be spent capturing images in the Garden and processing those images in the classroom as you learn how to use the various applications. This class has been updated to include many of the great new applications and processes that have been introduced recently. So even if you have taken this class before, you will learn some great new ways to enhance your creativity. Students are required to have an iPhone 4, 4S or 5 and an active iTunes account. These classes are not interchangeable.

That’s because Instagram is a free photo-sharing program and social network. Once you create an account, you will be able to take photos using the app, apply a variety of filters to those photos and then upload them to share with friends and family on your social network, or with other photographers on Instagram. A BEGINNER’S GUIDE TO USING THE HIPSTAMATIC APPLICATION
Shirley Drevich

Having your camera phone ready and available at a moment’s notice can enable you to capture that perfect photo, the one you have always dreamed of taking. And using the Hipstamatic app will enable you to personalize that photo like never before. This innovative app will allow you to shoot square photos and apply simulated filters and flashes to age your photos, giving them a decidedly retro feel. In this class you will view samples of different types of Hipstamatic photos, receive recommended film and lens combinations, and learn how to refer to previously used combinations or set your own favorite combinations and settings so that you will be ready when the time comes to take your next great shot. You will also receive information about the many Internet resources available to help you explore the world of Hipstamatic. Time will be spent in the classroom and photographing in the Garden (when permitting). Students are required to have an iPhone 4, 4S or 5 and have an active iTunes account.

PC LAPTOPS, iPHONES and iPADS: OH MY! LEARNING HOW THEY WORK TOGETHER
Alex Abate

When people check their calendars, do you find yourself rooting around for your paper appointment book, or looking for your photo album while your friends simply hold their phones up to your face to show you their latest pics? Feeling a bit obsolete? Well, then this new class is just what the doctor ordered! To quote Julie Andrews in The Sound of Music, “let’s start at the very beginning, a very good place to start...” Please join Alex Abate, our very patient teacher, as he guides you through the whys and wherefores of getting your PC Laptop in “SYNC” with your iPhone and/or your iPad. This class will assume that you know little to nothing at all about these wonderful new communication tools. You will learn to understand (and not fear) things like the Internet, Google, WiFi, The Cloud and iTunes. All the buttons and basics on your iPhone or iPad will be covered—including icons, apps, settings, and iMessages. You will learn how to text, scroll, click and double click, and learn about accessibility. Alex will help you understand how to create an Apple ID, and inform you as to how to go about setting up an iTunes account. You will learn how to buy and update apps. And you will have fun as you set up your own email account and learn keyboard tricks and how to set your phone preferences. Alex will also explain what the heck the iOS is and how to update it over the air or through iTunes. And the amazing world of iPhone and iPad photography will unfold in front of your eyes. Suddenly, you will be able to take photos at any time and anywhere. And you will learn how to access these photos and store them in albums that will be available to you whenever and wherever you want to look at them. Alex will also inform you as to how you can update, save and keep safe all of the information that you have on your iPhone or iPad.
