Species Information

This page provides further information on a subset of the plant species that Fairchild's Conservation Team cultivates, monitors and studies.  Symbols after each taxon indicate where to find detailed information as well as the taxon's range. 

Taxa with this symbol are part of the Center for Plant Conservation (CPC), a national conservation network.  As a founding member of the CPC consortium of botanic gardens and arboreta, Fairchild maintains a conservation collection of rare plants of South Florida, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.  Please click the CPC icons to learn more about Fairchild's 33 CPC species in the national collection.

Taxa with a pencil symbol are ones for which Fairchild biologists have written a Conservation Action Plan to serve as a formal communication between researchers and local land managers.  These plans recommend actions for the protection of the rare plant species in our program.
