This year’s Bird Festival kicks off with birding tours of South Florida bird habitats on Thursday October 2 and Friday October 3. All field trips are led by Tropical Audubon Society experts. Check back for birding locations and registration information.
The festival continues on Saturday October 4 and Sunday October 5 with full days of activities for birders of all ages including, presentations by bird experts, bird walks, amateur bird photo contest display, bird attracting plants and vendors and educational activities for the whole family.
The James A. Kushlan Keynote Speaker of the Bird Festival will be birding expert and television host James Currie.
A life-long wildlife enthusiast and native of South Africa, James Currie is fast-becoming one of the most recognizable faces in birding and wildlife in North America. James hosts the popular birding TV show, Nikon’s Birding Adventures, now in its 6th season. He also hosted the popular action-birding show “Aerial Assassins” on National Geographic WILD, aired in the United States and worldwide in 2012. He has led professional wildlife and birding tours for over 15 years and his passion for birding, adventure and remote cultures has taken him to nearly every corner of the globe. James has appeared as a special guest on various TV shows and radio, including Martha Stewart Radio, and has been the subject of several newspaper articles. James filmed for, consulted for and provided footage for the 2011 Hollywood birding movie, “The Big Year”, starring Steve Martin, Jack Black and Owen Wilson.

Non-members: $25 for adults, $18 for seniors 65 and up and $12 for children 6-17.
