Art at Fairchild, a lecture presented by Robert Petzinger, Fairchild Volunteer and Art Historian
Hugo Franca designs huge organic-looking furniture from fallen trees from Brazil’s “Cerrado” region. Roberto Burle Marx is Brazil’s famous tropical landscape architect who started as an abstract painter. We’ll explore the lives, influences and selected works of these iconic Brazilian artists. Also, we’ll learn about Lee Adams, Florida’s naturalist painter, who created original watercolor paintings of palms for Fairchild, and the Harvest the Wind exhibit of works created by local artists from felled trees at the garden following Hurricane Andrew. After the talk, there will be a tram and walking tour to see the artworks.
Admission is free for Fairchild members and children 5 and younger.
Non-members: $25 for adults, $18 for seniors 65 and up and $12 for children 6–17.
