Moving Perspectives- The Frost Art Museum Hits Its Stride

Dr. Carol Damian will present a survey of the exhibitions and programs of The Frost Art Museum since the Museum opened in 2008, and will introduce the exhibitions for the new art season. Highlights will include Chinese exhibitions, American Modern Masters, Artists Consider the Dalai Lama, and Because I Said So: Contemporary Art.  The new exhibitions feature work from French, Argentinean, Venezuelan and Cuban-American artists.

 About the speaker:

Dr. Carol Damian is Professor of Art History in the School of Art and Art History and the Director and Chief Curator of the Patricia and Phillip Frost Art Museum at Florida International University.  She is a graduate of Wheaton College in Norton, Mass., and received her MA in Pre-Columbian Art and her Ph. D. in Latin American History from the University of Miami.  A specialist in Latin American and Caribbean Art, she teaches classes in Pre-Columbian, Colonial, Spanish and Contemporary Latin American Art, Modern Art surveys and Women in Art.  Her most recent work has been with Latin American Women and the Cuban exile artists, for whom she has written numerous catalogs and articles.  She is the author of The Virgin of the Andes: Art and Ritual in colonial Cuzco (Grassfield Press, 1995) and is the Miami correspondent for Art Nexus and Arte al Dia.  She lectures frequently on Latin American and Caribbean art and has curated numerous exhibitions.

Admission is Free for Fairchild Members, Frost Art Museum members and children 5 and under.

Non-members: $25 for adults, $18 for seniors 65 and up and $12 for children 6-17. 

Eco-discount: If you walk, ride your bike or take public transportation to Fairchild, receive $5 off admission for adults and $2 off admission for children. Members, remember to bring your Rewards Card to earn your gift passes! 

Military Discount: We are pleased to offer active military personnel free admission. In addition, admission for spouses is $20 and children $10. Please present Military IDs.
