When: Thursday, April 17, 2014 from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM

Where: Science Village

Family Nature Night returns on April 17, when the Garden welcomes families of all ages for an evening celebrating the magic of pollination and the nocturnal fauna of South Florida! Activities lined up for your enjoyment include: helping pollinate our beloved sausage tree, learning all about nocturnal pollinators and night creatures in our own backyards, taking evening and twilight strolls of the Garden and enjoying the wonderful Disneynature documentary “Wings of Life.” We are ready to have fun with members of FIU’s Entomology Club and the beautiful creatures from the Falcon Batchelor Bird of Prey Center.

Schedule of Events starting at 5:30 p.m. at the Science Village:

At the Science Village Classroom 5:30 – 8:30p.m. (Continuous program)

  • Owls Station – Learn all about owls with Donna Molfetto, Avian Biologist  from the Falcon Batchelor Bird of Prey Center
  • Bugs station – Meet some crawly creatures up close and personal
  • Crafts station  - Make your own pollinator mask
  • Bats station – learn all about bats and how they help us and the environment
  • Moth station – See their complete life cycle and learn their important role in nature

At the Glasshouse Café 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. (Continuous program)

  • Enjoy DisneyNature’s: Wings of Life

Meet at the Science Village entrance – 6:30 and 7:30 p.m.

  • Evening stroll of the Garden – we will be looking for twilight creatures and listen to the evening sounds.

Help Pollinate the Sausage tree!

  • Join Fairchild’s Director, Dr. Carl Lewis and his daughter Eleonor, and help pollinate our beloved sausage tree located at the Lowlands.
  • Shuttles will depart from the Science Village entrance at 7:20, 7:40, 8:00, 8:15 and 8:30 p.m.

The Glasshouse Café will be open through the evening to enjoy refreshments and snacks.

Please park at the Lowlands Entrance.

Bring your flashlight to enjoy late activities.

Admission is free for Fairchild Members and children 5 and younger.
Non-members: $25 for adults, $18 for seniors 65 and up and $12 for children 6-17.
