Jason Downing

Florida is home to nearly half of the orchid species found in the United States. In South Florida, many tropical orchids have established by blowing over from the Caribbean, Central and South America, and Mexico and include globally endangered species. Through his lecture and garden tour, Jason will help you in identifying these natives when you are enjoying Florida's great outdoors.  He will introduce you to living samples found around the garden, including orchids that are part of the Million Orchid Project. After a tour of Fairchild’s native orchid collection and the orchid micro-propagation laboratory YOU will become a steward of the Million Orchid Project when you transplant an orchid in the garden and take one home to transplant in your yard.

9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Saturday, April 16 (one session)
