Not exactly suitable for the Chelsea Flower Show, wild lime flowers (Zanthoxlum fagara) are beginning to  open. The spikes are 3/8 of an inch tall, and they are smaller than the thorns.

Also blooming now is the black mulberry (Morus nigra).These flowers are larger than those of the wild lime, the multiple ovaries are clearly visible and will result in an aggregate drupelet.

 In fact, much of what is clearly visible is what we never notice.
