FAIRCHILD GARDEN CELEBRATES EARTH DAY

WITH REDUCED ADMISSION PRICE

 

Coral Gables, FL, April 10, 2013 – What better way to celebrate Earth Day than outdoors among tropical plants, fresh air and sunshine? On Monday, April 22, Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden is offering $7.50 admission for Earth Day in honor of Fairchild’s 75th anniversary of opening to the public.

 

Discover 83 acres of nature on foot or by tram with tram tours running every half hour from 10:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Volunteer Bob Petzinger will give special historic tram tours showing important landmarks from the garden’s past 75 years at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., and 12:30 p.m. Themed walking tours will give visitors a behind-the-scenes, in-depth look at special places in the garden. For lunch, bring a picnic basket or purchase sandwiches, salads and wraps from the Glasshouse Café.

 

Relax to the sounds of the waterfalls in the Rainforest, walk beside the swaying palm trees, visit the colorful butterflies at the interactive display in the Wings of the Tropics exhibit and much more. This Earth Day, there’s something for the whole family at Fairchild.

 

The garden is open from 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. The Wings of the Tropics butterfly exhibit opens at 9:30 a.m.
